New Apprentice Joins Team

Welcome Kauri

We're thrilled to announce the latest addition to our team - Kauri. April 2024 marked the start of an exciting journey for Kauri who is now an apprentice with MAST Academy, where he'll complete the 5-month Pre-apprenticeship Program. Over the course of this program, Kauri will earn Level 1-3 NZQA credits, setting the stage for his future in the trades.

The Pre-apprenticeship Program is designed to provide trainees like Kauri with hands-on experience in their desired trade (through working with us here at AwaJets) before making a full commitment to an apprenticeship. By successfully completing the unit standards assessed during this program, trainees will receive a Pre-apprenticeship Certificate from MAST Academy, positioning them for further advancement in their chosen field.

We're proud to say that all the unit standards covered in our Pre-apprenticeship Program are integral parts of broader apprenticeship programs, leading to New Zealand Certificates. This seamless transition ensures that trainees are well-equipped to continue their journey toward professional excellence.

Upon completing the Pre-apprenticeship Program, Kauri will then have the opportunity to continue on with a 4-year L4 Apprenticeship in Boat Building and Marine Composites with our business. It's an exciting prospect that reflects Kauri's dedication and potential in the field.

Beyond his professional qualifications, Kauri brings a wealth of passion and energy to our team. As a fervent Hunter/Gatherer and Fisherman, he spends his weekends immersed in nature, hunting in the bush or fishing in rivers alongside his loyal dogs. Kauri's strong work ethic and team spirit are evident in everything he does, making him a perfect fit for our dynamic team.

So, as we extend a warm welcome to Kauri, we're filled with excitement and anticipation for the journey ahead. Kia ora, Kauri – we're thrilled to have you join us!

I have completed the two hours on the initial running in at half throttle of the motor and am looking forward to the power that I feel the engine can produce in making a safe trip in the river when I have to open it up. The boat performs probably beyond my expectations in cornering and stopping in a hurry.

Best thing my husband has ever brought. You know I thought oh no it'll mean you'll be out with your mate's 247, but no it has brought our family closer and we have had many family adventures boating all across New Zealand. Stewart Island, Lake Hauroko, Wairaurahiri River, lake wanaka, the Wilkin, the horomanga, the whirinaki, waimana river, waioweka gorge, rangiteiki river, amongst a few, best purchase ever.

My husband and I were privileged to be able to hunt with Gary on his boat and what an awesome experience it was. We were able to penetrate deep into the Ngahere via the river. We quickly accessed the good hunting spots. These spots would normally take a long day of walking to access.

The boat managed the problematic areas of the river with ease and our comfort was not compromised. The boat was more than capable of the payload of 3 people, 3 dogs, and our hunting gear. Not to mention our harvested quarry on the return trip home.
